Bio

The Grab Brothers Band hails from the musical hotbed of Boston/Cape Cod. Original Duo and now featured as a "Power Trio" (Acoustic & Rock). A powerful 3-piece rock and roll outfit with an equally potent penchant for hook-laden rockers, and riveting excitement to their most infectious ballads. There is a vital chemistry at the core of their gutsy musical style. It encompasses an intriguing blend of an early Genesis infused with a Jethro Tullish Celtic taste and a bit of The Grateful Dead influence. Just catchy straight out rock-n-roll! "These guys not only have the ability to give you hard driving no-nonsense rock, but also can slow the pace to eloquently strum a few acoustic gems! And when the brothers sing together, their vocal harmonies are just amazing!"

  • Another legendary Boston band.................

Once you've heard "Wishing you well" off of this album you will forget all about 'we are the world'. This band is amazing!

  • Here's a wonderful freshman effort. Some fantastic cuts.

Here's an interesting CD. This disc includes a variety of genres, bundled in one package, from acoustic-oriented material to the hard rocker, Silent Dreams. The strongest cut on the disc is Vagabond. For some reason, it displays a lyrical maturity that the other cuts do not. The song evokes a mood and keeps me wanting more from the artist. This is a trait that should be exploited. It isn't so much the musical stylings, i.e., acoustic guitars and flute, but the direction or the composition. Each of the tracks have their own unique strengths. Gogel Mogel, while cute and overly simplistic, gives the listener an insight into family relations not necessarily offered in many current pop genres. The only thing I find difficult to process is the inclusion of Make Up Your Mind. It's obvious that brother number two sang this one and is a much more talented artist than the song displays. Some of the mixes stand apart from the others. I find the mix on Out Of My Hands very pristine in its use of the stereo spectrum and eq applications. This is an excellent disc as a whole; especially as a freshman effort. I followed the link to The Grab Brothers web site and listened to a host of current tracks not yet available on CD Baby. They've added a new disc titled Grab This. The songs Nothing Sharp and Nothing Flat, plus Reckless Souls, each display a lyrical, melodic maturity, thunderous power and groove sense that is not apparent on the Acoustical Bookends CD. Wow. Looking forward to future releases from these guys as should the rest of the music industry. Here is a band showing inklings of melodic power and instrumental prowess not heard since the early days of the rock revolution.

  • A Few Gems Here Will Grow On You
    author: Dave Clark

Okay, it's a bad pun, but this CD may grab you. The big cuts, Vagabond and Out Of My Hands, have hooks you'll remember tomorrow. A few other cuts are a little coy and on the cheesy side, but your personal tastes will forgive you if you listen to the CD all the way through. Make Up Your Mind sounds so Partridge family, and Like An American has a playful C&W flavor. Silent Dreams got my attention; I thought I was listening to an Oscar-nominated movie sound track theme. The strongest cut simply on it's own merits may be Wishing You Well, completely avoiding anything trite or predictable and was a delightful discovery. I judge not on likeability but on getting the message across while avoiding the mundane. There are enough bright hooks and classy nuggets here to please a wide range of tastes. Well done!
